transvaginal ultrasound (TVUS): A diagnostic procedure that uses ultrasound to examine the uterus, ovaries, cervix and vagina. This procedure can be used to help screen for and diagnose uterine cancer.

uterine adenocarcinoma: Another name for uterine cancer.

uterine cancer: A type of cancer in which a tumor grows in the uterus, usually in the endometrium.

uterus: Also called the womb, the uterus is located above the vagina and is separated from the vagina by the cervix. The uterus is designed to nourish the developing fetus.

vagina: The passage that leads from the outside of a woman's body into the uterus.
